Necessity of UPS power supply equipped with monitoring system

Why monitor UPS power supply? The reason for implementing corresponding monitoring and management of UPS power supply is actually determined by the limitations of traditional UPS systems themselves.

(1) The single machine failure rate is high and often affects the continuous operation of the supported system. Traditional single unit UPS power supplies do not have backup lines or emergency plans, and all power supply lines are single line. Once problems occur, power supply interruption is inevitable. Once this situation occurs and further spreads, if not dealt with in a timely manner, it is highly likely to cause irreparable huge losses.

(2) Poor scalability. The configuration of traditional UPS is fixed and cannot be upgraded. If an information system upgrade requires an increase in power supply capacity, a new UPS power supply can only be purchased. Furthermore, the UPS power supply system itself can only ensure the safety of power supply, but it is powerless in monitoring and managing the power environment.

(3) Difficulty in management. All batteries or battery packs have no difference in function and use. When one of the batteries fails, the UPS power supply cannot shut down and replace it in a timely manner. It can only report the occurrence of a system fault and then be manually replaced by management personnel; In addition, most small and medium-sized computer rooms in China do not have 24-hour duty personnel, and generally use patrol methods to detect hidden dangers in a timely manner. There are safety hazards during non working hours, holidays, etc., and relevant management personnel cannot be informed of them in a timely manner and take corresponding measures.

(4) High maintenance costs. The maintenance of traditional UPS systems is a highly technical task. For ordinary battery replacement work, it also requires professional technicians to complete it, and users generally do not replace it themselves; The dispersion of locations also brings huge transportation and time costs for later maintenance.

In addition, automated and standardized management of UPS is a key step in truly achieving the safety and reliability of the UPS power supply system, and also an important part of achieving the goal of unmanned modern computer room construction.
