1、 Overview of Industry Status

Freeways have high requirements for power supply reliability, and have characteristics such as wide application range, multiple load types, and complex usage environments. Some require redundant power supply methods, some require adaptation to their harsh usage environments, and some adopt centralized or decentralized power supply methods. Therefore, when developing a power supply solution, it is necessary to make a reasonable distribution design plan based on actual needs, such as the usage environment and equipment conditions.

2、 Description of industry environment and load characteristics

UPS is mainly used in toll stations, tunnel lighting, and tunnel ventilation on highways, with a power demand of 10-30KVA and a delay of about 2-4 hours.

The application characteristics of highways:

1. Power grid quality

(1) Local electricity and even rural electricity are used along highways, while the power grid along urban roads is relatively poor

(2) Located in remote rural areas with frequent lightning strikes

(2) Alternating cold and hot in the tunnel can easily cause condensation

3. Load characteristics

(1) Mainly used for computer loads, extremely sensitive to flicker and requires high voltage accuracy.

(2) The tunnel lighting is equipped with high-pressure sodium lamps, and a low power factor will reduce the load capacity of UPS

4. Artificial characteristics

The UPS at each station is basically unmanned, and the management and maintenance are also different.

3、 Technical solutions

In the equipment warehouse inside the tunnel, the space area is relatively limited, the humidity is high, and there is also a lot of car exhaust and dust. Considering that many tunnels are located in mountainous areas, it is recommended to add a C-level lightning arrester at the UPS input point. The load is tunnel lighting, and when using inductive ballasted high-pressure sodium lamps, reactive power compensation devices should be added. Otherwise, the power factor of the load is very low, resulting in a significant waste of UPS power. For areas with high humidity, in addition to strengthening the protection of the UPS itself and coating the circuit board, it is recommended that users configure dehumidifiers to ensure an ideal humidity environment in the equipment warehouse and improve the reliability of UPS operation.

The toll station equipment mainly includes computers, printers, electric railings, lighting, monitoring, signal lights, sensing equipment, etc. Tunnel equipment mainly includes high-pressure sodium lamps, ventilation fans, etc.
