1、 Overview of Industry Status

With the rapid development of telecommunications technology, the structure of telecommunications networks is becoming increasingly complex. As a dynamic component of communication systems, the importance of communication power supply, the heart of communication systems, is also increasingly reflected. Traditional communication power sources, whether in terms of power supply methods or technical performance indicators of power equipment, are far from meeting the rapidly changing technical requirements of telecommunications networks. From the perspective of the importance of electricity, power supply is an essential component of the communication network, and the quality of its power supply directly affects the smooth operation of the entire telecommunications network. It is the power source of the entire telecommunications network, and some people vividly compare electricity to the "heart" of the communication network.

The basic requirements for power in communication networks are: reliability, stability, high efficiency, and small size.

2、 Customer load characteristics description

Given that the vast majority of IT equipment in communication network rooms nowadays, such as servers, routers, switches, optical terminals, gateways, disk array machines, and communication devices, are only allowed to have an instantaneous power outage time of around 0.01 to 0.02 seconds. This means that for critical communication load systems, if a "momentary power outage" occurs for more than 0.02 seconds during operation, it will cause a "network paralysis" accident to occur. Once the network is paralyzed, it often takes several minutes to several hours to restore the entire network to normal operation. Obviously, this will bring huge economic losses to users. Based on the above reasons, we must consider eliminating the potential "single point bottleneck" fault hazards that may occur in the UPS output power supply system to ensure the continuity of power supply to these critical IT load devices.

2. Base Station UPS Power Supply Solution

(1) DC power supply

Hongji Station: Powered by an indoor 48V rectifier power supply/outdoor integrated communication power supply system.

(2) Indoor coverage centralized power supply scheme

DC remote control: RRU is within 100 meters from the computer room and adopts an outdoor integrated communication power supply system

(3) Indoor/outdoor coverage centralized power supply scheme

(4) Indoor coverage decentralized power supply

Independent power supply: using outdoor integrated UPS power supply, DC UPS power supply (AC DC composite power supply mode), and outdoor 48V DC power supply

(5) Outdoor coverage with independent power supply

The RRU is more than 1500 meters away from the computer room, and the BBU is independently connected to the local power supply. The RRU adopts an independent power supply mode: outdoor integrated UPS power supply, DC UPS power supply (AC DC composite power supply mode), and outdoor 48V DC power supply.

AC distance pulling: Suitable for RRUs within 1500 meters from the computer room, using inverter power supply method (converting the 48V power supply of the computer room to AC 220V to achieve stable power supply for distance pulling). Compared with DC distance pulling, the biggest advantage of this method is to reduce power transmission loss.
